November 2023 Newsletter

Holy smokes! Can you believe it is November? Already?! We only have two months left in 2023 and then we start a new year! Psst, by the way, it's time to pay next year's dues. You may pay by cash, check, or Venmo - regardless of how you pay, please help us! Write in the check memo, Venmo memo, or on the outside of your cash envelope that you are paying 2024 dues. Please also note who you are paying for if paying for someone outside of yourself! Dues are $40.00. Everyone, get excited for our November membership meeting on November 16th! Laura and Rita will be serving up Hatch Chicken Chile Tortilla Lasagna and salad - I know I am excited for it! As always - the bar opens at 5:30, dinner at 6:15, and meeting at 7:00 sharp. At our last membership meeting, our membership elected the new members for the 2024-2025 board seats. Below the election results are listed, we look forward to their contributions to the club! Vice President - Ray Williams Treasurer - Anita Withers Directors - Erin Matheson Boyd, Susette Bennett, and Zach Perron (Bar) It is that time of year again, our When You Wish Upon a Star event is coming up in the first week of December. This year is dedicated to and in memory of Suzanne Tosti. The event is held on December 2nd from 11am-3pm. Shirley is looking for sponsors for local families in need. You can contribute in a number of ways: donate money, sponsor families (by purchasing wishes), donate new blankets, or volunteer to help on Dec. 2nd. Additionally, you can help prepare and deliver a meal to a senior on Dec. 22nd. Reach out to her at rentals@lavmc.org if you are able to help contribute. This year, the entire event will take place at the Men’s Club with games and activities in the main hall and gift distribution in the bar. We will be having our annual tree lighting at the club at 5:30 pm on the same day. Last, but CERTAINLY not least, the McCullar/ Reasner family are hosting their annual Thanksgiving Feast on the 23rd at 3pm at the Los Alamos Valley Men’s Club. They will provide Turkey, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, and Gravy. They ask that those that attend bring a side dish or a dessert but INSIST that even if you can’t, they would love for you to come anyways. If anyone knows of a senior or someone in town cannot get to the club or could use a thanksgiving meal to please let Jim know. The family will work to provide a ride or deliver a meal to those individuals. Also, Happy Thanksgiving!

December Holiday Meeting

We will be having our annual holiday meeting and swearing in of new officers on December 21. This year’s party promises good food, live music, a table decorating contest, and more! The cost for dinner is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. We will be serving smoked turkey and ham, Shirley’s hashbrown, and green salad. We would like to have a dessert potluck, so please bring one to share if you are able! Stay tuned for December’s newsletter for more information on the table decorating contest.

Old Days Recap 2023

I don’t think I need to tell you how wonderful if was to have Old Days “Back on Bell”. We had a great turnout of visitors, an amazing street fair, a wicked car show, a fun and very full parade - the list goes on and on! We had a great group of members who truly went above and beyond in getting our Old Days back to what it was before! Thank you to everyone who helped organize and volunteered to make this year’s Old Days great!
