July Newsletter 2023

July 2023 Newsletter

Greetings LAVMC Members! It certainly feels like summer here, the heat is back! We hope that all of you had a safe and happy fourth of July celebration. The Cooper and Williams crew did not disappoint in providing us their delicious fish tacos at the June meeting. I think I speak for many of us when I say that a second helping was a must. Thank you to Adrian Saenz and Erin Matheson Boyd for helping clean up from dinner, our members are awesome! Our next general membership meeting is on Thursday, July 20th. The Bar opens at 5:30 and dinner is served at 6:15. The meeting will start at 7pm sharp. Dinner for our July meeting will be provided by the Iness and Kopcrak crew and cleaning up will be the Vidros. They will be serving hot dogs with ALL of the fixings!

It is almost time for elections… We have several board positions that are up for election in October and they are as follows: Vice President, Treasurer, Bar Manager, and two Director positions. If you would like to join us in serving the club as a board member, please come to the next general meeting. If you are interested in what being a board member entails, reach out. We are happy to answer questions.

Old Days 2023 Red, White, & Country

Hear Ye, Hear Ye The Grand Marshals that the Old Days Committee had selected will now be the 2024 Grand Marshals due to a scheduling conflict. With that being said, we are now in search of a Grand Marshal for this year’s Old Days. Do you know someone deserving? We are looking for a local Los Alamos community member that has been a part of our community for a while and has made impact in some way. Please complete the survey below to help us in our search!

The countdown is on and we are getting closer to Old Days every single minute! Please help us out by promoting the event and share anything we share on social media. The more widespread we can get the word out, the better the event will be. Remind people that we are BACK ON BELL! Our Old Days theme for 2023 is ‘Red, White, and ‘Country’. We need plenty of volunteers to help out with Old Days, please email Kristy (olddays@lavmc.org) if you are interested in volunteering! Have we mentioned yet that we would LOVE to have as many local businesses and families as possible participate in our parade? We are back on Bell and better than ever, so let’s make it BIG! Everyone is welcome to join in the parade festivities - bands, floats, horses, dance crews, we welcome all walks of life!
