August 2024 Newsletter

Kylin here- summer got the best of me and I am a little behind on newsletter. The Cleavers served up a wonderful dinner at our June meeting, so hats off to them for making it happen! We are thankful for volunteers that make things happen around the club. In July, we had a delicious Tri-Tip dinner thanks to our very own director,  Zach!

Speaking of volunteers, our new flagpole is (nearly) complete! We are working on the final touches so make sure you come by to check it out. Thanks to Jim and his crew for their hard work.

In August Kristy and Anita will be serving dinner at our membership meeting on Thursday, July 18th. The doors will open at 5:30, dinner will be served around 6:15, and the meeting will start at 7:00. If I had to guess, I think there will be a lot of exciting updates about Old Days since we are just under two months away from all of the fun! We will also hear from the Los Alamos Senior Center for a donation.

Get Your Buck Contest Tickets!

Ray has the tickets for our fun new Friday night event- the BUCK contest! In case you haven’t heard of this before, it is an event that gathers local hunters to compete to see who has the biggest rack (horns of course). Everyone is welcome, even if you aren’t hunting. There will be live country music and chile verde dinner along with the contest.  We will have a raffle for door prizes for everyone that purchases a ticket, even those that don’t turn in horns! Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by contacting Ray at (805)868-8795.

Tell your friends, the more the merrier!

Ray is also looking for outdoor related raffle prizes for the contest, things related to hunting, fishing, camping, or BBQ are all welcome. We are hoping for 20-30 prizes total. If you can think of a business you might be able to get a donation from, let us know and we can share a letter with you.

Old Days Volunteer Opportunities

The Old Days Committee is in need of help during the weekend, September 27-29. As members, it is our duty to help the club be successful, and that includes making Old Days go off without a hitch! If every member signed up to help with one event, we would have everything covered in the blink of an eye. As an ag teacher who coordinates a variety of large events,  I mean it when I say it truly takes a village to make events like this successful!

Kristy is hopeful that everyone will use the online registration form on the website and I will include the link below. If you want to tell us at the next meeting or shoot an email, help is help and we can help fill in the spots!
